Yemen Mocha Sanani

Tuesday, February 26th, 2008

Mocha?? No this is not a flavored coffee. Mocha refers to the port city on the Red Sea coast of Yemen, home of the oldest cultivated coffees in the world. The term “Mocha Java” actually comes from a blend of the Yemen Mocha with and Indonesian aged coffee called Java. The Mocha Sanani coffees are cultivated and processed the same way they have been for centuries: dry processed with no chemicals. They are considered naturally organic.

450px-coffee_beans_on_tree.jpgBig news! I’ve got lots of samles coming from Atlas importers in Seattle. I’ve had such an amazing response to the Ethiopian Yirgacheffe that I’ve decided to make it a regular offering. Along the way I’m getting samples of a few coffees from Honduras and a Sumatra. In addition I’m sampling a new Brazil and an Indian coffee. I’ll post the cupping results as soon as they arrive. Stay tuned!
