Ethiopia Yirgacheffe Koke

Ahh Ethiopia the birthplace of coffee and not surprisingly the producer of some of the best and most unique coffee in the world. There are around 2500 different coffee varietals in Ethiopia and around 2-3 dozen varietals in the rest of the world. I have 1 of the 2500 on the way! This one was produced in the Yirgacheffe (Irgachefe) region of the Gedeo Zone of Southern Nations, Nationalities and Peoples Region of Ethiopia. Specifically in the town of Koke. According to Cafe Grumpy

Koke was one of the first places in Yirgacheffe to process their beans using the washed method in 1959. This is a nice clean cup with great balanced acitity and flavors of roots and herbs as well as sweet fruit. This coffee was judged the “Best Ethiopian Coffee” at the East African Fine Coffee Association’s annual contest.

This shipment should be here soon, and I’m already looking forward to the cup!
